JD Power Consumer Smartphone Ratings: iPhone Rules All But Battery Aspect
To no great surprise, Apple’s iPhone was announced as winner of the JD Power 2009 Wireless Consumer Smartphone Customer Satisfaction Study. Apple scored 791 on the 1,000-point scale while LG was second with 772 and Samsung third with 759. RIM Blackberry, Palm, and HTC followed, with Motorola sitting at the bottom of the bunch.
As a way of rating the complete package of each device, the study measured customer satisfaction of smartphones across several key factors: Ease of Operation, Operating System, Features, Physical Design and Battery Function. While the ultra-popular iPhone swept nearly every category used in the study, it lagged well behind as far as the battery aspect was concerned. This also comes as no surprise; battery-life has never been one of the iPhone’s strongest selling points. And although the smartphones from LG and RIM Blackberry rated highest in this particular category, the iPhone’s dominance in every other category was enough to secure it’s place as the superior smartphone in the JD Power 2009 Wireless Consumer Smartphone Customer Satisfaction Study.
Our friends at TechCrunch have posted a detailed report of the smartphone study. You can take a look at it here.
